Cockfighting is extremely popular in Cuba, with fights held weekly in clandestine locations, usually deep in the countryside. While legal, placing bets is strictly illegal, so the fights are kept remote, and the location shifted from time-to-time to avoid the police.

These images were taken in the mountains surrounding Viñales, where a group of several hundred farmers had gathered to watch the fights.
